Back to 40k

I’ve been needing to paint and model and game lately. And well, 40K does have some of the best background for any of the games out there. I might just be a bit sentimental as it was the first game I really got into.

Talking to Luc about it, he was onboard as well. He wanted to resurrect his Tau army… and I offered to paint them for him.

So this past Saturday was the 30th Anniversary of the Space Marine. (Ok I feel old now)

One of the first miniatures I bought… probably the first for 40k was a 3 pack blister of lead Space Marines. The original miniature was in this pack. I had done a HORRIBLE paint job on it. First off, I had no spray primer, and used an Armoury grey paint on primer… and of course I used WAY too much. I also remember using the Metalic paint set… I’m not a fan of metalic paints now… probably because of this. The marine was painted in a weird green metalic colour… Anyways… I digress…

So Luc and I met up at Games Workshop on Saturday to get this miniature. As we’re waiting outside, these 2 guys approach us and start talking to us. Oh! One of them was the handler that helped me out last May the 4th when I was at Chapter’s as Chewie!

Needless to say, we all started chatting and it seems like we’ve made some new gaming friends!

So now that we’re back in I’ve been painting like a mad man (probably the only thing keeping me sane right now)

My heart is with my Orks, but I REALLY love painting Tau.

I also decided to start painting up my Dark Eldar, now that I finally figured out a paint scheme. I try not to repeat too many of my colours through out all my armies. I find people get used to one way and then that’s all they do. I’ve seen Marines, Orks and Tyranids, all sporting the same colours… My Orks, are Bad Moons, so Yellow. I have Dark Angels that are either dark green or bone, I have my Necrons… ok, they don’t count… or do they? They’re metal, sure, but they have bone and purple. So for my Dark Eldar, I went teal! Sure it’s an odd colour for Dark Eldar, but I had seen one on¬†DakkaDakka a while back, it looked good and I figured I could do it even better.

So far I have my Reavers done… still working on the drivers and will probably add some “art” on the bikes.

I also have a unit of Kabalite Warriors pretty much done. Still need to finish their bases.

I also picked up a few more minis for a new, faction… But that’s a story for an other time!
