I’ve always had a thing for games where you create a character or warband, and they gain experience and get better as you play. Not sure if it’s the bond you create with certain characters, or the individualism it gives them… Needless to say, games like Necromunda, Inquisitor and Mordheim have always been my favorites.
Back in the day that the mighty empire that is GW still supported it’s Specialist games range… I went nuts with Mordheim…
I remember sitting in my apartment, building terrain like there was no tomorrow. Bought the game… that wasn’t enough though, I bought several boxes of the Witch Hunter warband, the Sisters of Sigmar, the Possessed, Undead, Pit Fighters, Kislevites, Amazons, Dwarf Treasure Hunters, Carnival of Chaos, not to mention every Hired Sword and Dramatis Personae I could find… Needless to say, GW gave up on these great games and all support came to an end… Here I stood, with an entire city built, tons of minis in various levels of paint jobs but no Town Cryer Magazine… and eventually no one to play. During this down, was when my friends and I picked up Warmachine… so all the great Mordheim minis went into some box to possibly never be seen again.
Years go by and I started thinking of Mordheim again. After 2 moves, I looked for the boxes that contained these great minis… WOOHOO!!! I found my Sisters of Sigmar!!! Oh! There’s some Witch Hunters!!! Uhmm… why to none of my (Amazons, Dwarves, Pit Fighters, Kislevites, Carnival etc…) have no arms or weapons?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!
So, I finished painting a small warband of Sisters (and they look awesome!) but the warbands I’m really interested in have all been amputated! Ok, I love this game enough, and need the extra heroes for say the Carnival, so I can see myself buying an other box from GW and use the spare arms… But my dear Kislevites… I’m completely stumped at this… Here is what was my favorite warband (heck I have like 2 boxes worth and some blisters) who are an official warband… were featured in the zine yet… can’t buy them off the GW site…
Some days I hate this hobby! (and not only cause of the rude, fat, unhigenic oafs that tend to infest it)
