Three units failed morale within the same turn on Kjell Ridge. A short account of what actually held the line, since the failures were more instructive than the win.

Turn 3, left flank — the frost-warband's vanguard broke first, which nobody at the table expected. Good armor save, bad dice, three casualties before it could even swing. Filed under: don't overextend the expensive unit just because it looks intimidating on the shelf.

Turn 4, center — the artillery crew held with one model left standing, which decided the whole game. No tactical brilliance involved, just a single unit that refused to check morale twice in a row.

Turn 6, right flank — the reserve unit that never should have been held in reserve. Arrived one turn too late to matter, contributed nothing, looked great doing it.

The actual lesson

Board control mattered more than any single unit's stat line. The center held not because it was the strongest choice on paper, but because it was positioned where losing it hurt the least. Everything else about the plan survived contact with the dice about as well as plans usually do.

Rematch scheduled for next week — same warbands, better flank discipline, hopefully.
